The upcoming clash between Royal AM and Golden Arrows in the KZN derby is poised to be a pivotal encounter in the DStv Premiership. With both teams vying for a spot in the coveted top eight, former Orlando Pirates midfielder, Menzi Masuku, emphasizes the significance of this showdown as a potential six-pointer. In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, Masuku provides insights into the intensity of derby matches and the determination of both sides to secure a crucial victory.

As excitement mounts for this highly anticipated fixture, Masuku sheds light on the competitive nature of derbies and the importance of securing points to improve their standing in the league. Despite the challenges faced by Royal AM, Masuku expresses confidence in his team's readiness to rise to the occasion and deliver a positive performance against a resilient Golden Arrows side.

"You know how derbies are. Both teams are looking for points in terms of the log standing. It's really good to get closer to getting to the eighth spot. This is a six pointer as both teams need a win and if you look at the points difference you can realise how tough the league is at the moment. The standings don't look good for us because although we have had good results, our goal difference doesn't look good as we have conceded quite a number of goals hence we need this win badly. We are taking this game very seriously and we will apply ourselves in a positive way. We know Arrows are coming from a very bad result against Pirates and they would want to bounce back against us and we are ready for that. You know there is a lot at stake in this game and that's why it's a six pointer and a derby of course," Masuku told Soccer Laduma.

Masuku then reflects on his own contributions to the team this season, expressing satisfaction with his impact on the field. Despite defensive challenges, Masuku's individual performances have been noteworthy, earning him recognition through goals and man-of-the-match awards.

"I am very happy with my impact of helping the team whenever I would be able to help. I have been on the score sheet though it hasn't been much but it helped the team and also I have won about two man of the match awards which means a lot to me and to the team. The only problem is that we have conceded more goals than other teams which is understandable because we had other challenges as a team as well as young players coming in but despite the challenges we faced we did our best as a team and as players. But above all I have done very well for myself and for the team," Masuku concluded.

As Royal AM prepare to take on Golden Arrows in the upcoming derby clash, Masuku's words underscore the significance of this fixture in the context of the league standings. With both teams eager to secure a vital win, the stage is set for a fiercely contested battle.
