Orlando Pirates have emerged as one of the most consistent teams in the DStv Premiership, showcasing remarkable performance improvements from last season to this. This consistency has led former Bucs goalkeeper Williams Okpara to advocate for the retention of the current squad into the next season and beyond. In a candid conversation with Soccer Laduma, the goalkeeper from the 1995 CAF Champions League-winning team emphasized the importance of squad stability but also highlighted the need for an additional striker to intensify the competition within the team.

Reflecting on the team's current dynamics, Okpara shared the following views for our readers.

"If you look at the team right now you can see that it's beginning to gel. The players are starting to understand each other and there would be no need to disturb them. They have to keep the team for next season. The results are showing that the technical team and the players are working together and if things are like this at the team then there is no need to change things. We need continuity and it comes with keeping the same team for some time. It's a really good team which needs to continue gelling by keeping it together for few more seasons to come. If they do that then the team will be fighting for the league title next season. Believe me it's a very good team with players who are understanding each other and doing very well," Okpara told the Siya crew.

The Nigerian-born legend also pointed out the strategic advantage of bolstering the squad with an additional striker.

"I don't know their budget but I think they should add one more striker. You know we need strikers to compete amongst each other so that we have more hungry strikers which can score goals to win the team more games.

"Also it helps that when other strikers are out then the one who comes in is also just as good and can help the team. Apart from that, everything is going well and the players are good," Okpara concluded.
