Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez is believed to have an agreement in place to join the Catalan club as a free agent ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The experienced holding midfielder was involved in Argentina's 2021 Copa America and 2022 FIFA World Cup-winning squads.

Rodriguez, 30, has been at Betis since 2020 and has made 171 appearances for the LALIGA side across all competitions.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a "verbal agreement" was reached two weeks ago and has been approved by Xavi Hernandez.

The Argentine will reportedly pen a two-year deal with the Blaugrana, with an option for a third.

Rodriguez is set to become the club's first signing ahead of next season after head coach Xavi decided to continue in his role until 2025.

The Spaniard had initially announced he would be stepping down at the end of the campaign, but had his mind changed following important discussions with president Joan Laporta.
