On Sunday night, a repeat of the 2018/19 competition decider will take place, with Zamalek set to face off against RS Berkane in the final of this season's edition of the continental tournament.

On that previous occasion, it was the White Castle who emerged victorious courtesy of a penalty shootout victory over their Moroccan counterparts to lift their first and only Confederation Cup title.

This time around, however, the Egyptian juggernauts have taken issue with this rematch, mainly because of the official who will be the video assistant referee.

Poised to be the encounter's VAR is Tunisian Hichem Guirat, according to Pulse Sports Kenya, and Zamalek are uncomfortable with his appointment because Berkane's manager, Moin Chaabani, is also from Tunisia.

As per Zamalek's statement, according to Al Jazeera, the complaint comes "because the video technology referees in the home and away matches have the same nationality as the Nahdet Berkane coach, which contradicts the principle of equal opportunities and impartiality, which CAF is supposed to be keen on".

It is worth noting that Zamalek themselves also have players hailing from Tunisia, namely centre-back Hamza Mathlouthi and star striker Seifeddine Jaziri, so it remains to be seen if CAF will make a U-turn on the appointed VAR.
