THE wife of African Bank founder, Dr Samuel Mokgethi Motsuenyane, died almost 24 hours after burying her husband.

Koko Jocelyn Motsuenyane died at age 92. 

Dr Sam Motsuenyane Foundation confirmed the news on Friday afternoon, 10 May. 

"It's with great profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mme Nomgcibelo Jocelyn Motsuenyane, beloved wife of the late the Dr Sam Motsuenyane.

"Mme Motsuenyane departed in the early hours of 10 May, merely hours after bidding farewell to her husband of 70 years," said foundation spokeswoman, Ntlotleng Manale. 

Manale reflected on how Mme Motsuenyane's death marked the end of an era as the family now mourns the loss of two pillars whose contributions to the community and nation are immeasurable. 

Dates for the funeral have since been confirmed for the coming week. 

"In honouring koko's life and legacy, the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 15 May, at 7am at the Akasia Community Hall. Following the service, she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband at Zandfontien Cemetry," said Manale. 

She send her condolences to the family and friends whose lives were touched by Mme Motsunyane's kindness, wisdom and grace. 

"May her soul find eternal peace and may her memory continue to inspire the family," said Manale. 

On Thursday, 9 May, the Akasia Community Hall was packed to capacity during Dr Motsuenyane's funeral service. 

He died on Monday, 29 April aged 97. 

Among those who were in attendance were former President Thabo Mbeki, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, CAF President Patrice Motsepe and his wife, businesspeople, traditional leaders, politicians and people in showbiz.

Speaker after speaker described Dr Motsuenyane as a legend, visionary for black businesses, true leader, courageous, caring and loving. 

Mbeki shared how Dr Motsuenyane was courageous, ethical and was a committed leader.
